What are your thoughts on Emily Deschanel being a pregnant VEGAN woman?

How do you feel about Emily Deschanel being a vegan while pregnant?

I found an interview of hers, and it goes something like this...

"I became a vegetarian that minute and worked on becoming a vegan [vegans avoid dairy, eggs, and meat and don't wear animal products like leather], which I've now been for 18 years. Saying no to meat makes me feel stronger inside; I feel aligned with my morals and ethics. I still have to defend myself because people don't understand it. As a pregnant woman especially, people will say to me, "You must eat meat and dairy." You really have to tap into your self-esteem whenever people try to convince you you're making the wrong choice." - Emily

You know what I think? I'm not a vegetarian/vegan myself, but I commend Emily for sticking up for what she believes in. She doesn't give into the peer pressure of others. Go Emily!!! You're a true role model to all of the Bones fans!

Read the rest of the interview here.

Until next time....

  1. Eating vegan is possible at every stage of life when well done, so also when a woman is pregnant.
Emily has been a vegan for 18 years, and knows about nutrition (she had seen some professionnals).
Furthermore, she went to a dietician to help her adapting her vegan diet specifically during her pregnancy.
So I don't see any problem at all.

I have more of a problem with the fact that the rest of her interview was hardly mentioned at all most of the time and that some blogs even made it look like she was doing something horrible to her and her baby. But the rest of her interview had some very interesting elements in it, like the Hollywood pressure to appear a certain way.

  2. if we were all forced to learn nutrition in school, as a species we would probably be a little closer to being vegan.

as far as emily being pregnant and vegan, i don't see why some people seem to have such negative thoughts on the matter.
